About Airport Area
The Airport Area is the southern part of Batumi between the New Boulevard and the international airport. Closer to the sea, on Lech and Maria Kaczynski, Khimshiashvili and Angisa streets, high-rise complexes stand 20 to 150 metres from the beach. Further inland, on Adlia and Eliava streets and along Airport Highway, there are mid-rise buildings and low-rise villas 500 metres to 2 kilometres from the sea.
Next to the area are Lech and Maria Kaczynski Park, the Metro City and Batumi Mall shopping centres, a water park and the continuation of the New Boulevard promenade. The airport is 5 to 10 minutes by car and the city centre 10 to 20 minutes; buses No. 10 and 10A run along Kaczynski and Adlia streets.
On the first line, most apartments are bought for short-term rental, and some complexes come with hotel management. Deeper in the blocks it is quieter and more family-oriented, with schools, including Public School No. 27, kindergartens and supermarkets nearby. Bear in mind aircraft noise in buildings closer to the runway and the construction still going on in many blocks of the area.
